#2 BE SMART!
Successful school- and sport sector cooperation has to be based on transparent, feasible and agreed objectives.
Relevance – Why is this requirement important?

Project goals which are build up, supported and well planned make or break a project. Therefore the objectives have to be SMART – on political level as well! But of course, this is clearly a matter of feasibility. Nevertheless, it is very important to be clear about achievable goals to make sure everybody is engaged in the same direction.

Furthermore, practical objectives make the project transparent towards policymakers and fundraisers and ensure the economical use of taxes. Occasionally, the evaluation of a project shows that objectives have to be re-sharpened regularly.

Challenges – What are the typical challenges related to this requirement?

Objectives are formulated unclear due to the:

  1. influence of politicians/policy-level (vague broad political point: f.i. a better live),
  2. lack of time for planning a project and
  3. mix of different levels of objectives.

Every stakeholder involved has the responsibility to tackle the objectives, so make sure that everyone commits to the goals.

Strategies – What are potential measures or strategies you might consider to (better) fulfil this requirement?

The basic strategy is to invest time and resources for planning a project and writing a structured concept. Use former evaluation results for further/other/adapted projects or new strategical ways and try a long-term planning without political influence.
